Our Soul Bowed Down to the Dust - Psalms 44:25

In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “for your sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter. Awake, why do you sleep, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever. Wherefore hide you your face, and forget our affliction and our oppression?”, and in chapter forty four and verse twenty-five of Psalms David said, “ our soul is bowed down to the dust” where we read,

For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaves unto the earth.

The verse begins, For our soul is bowed down to the dust: David began with the words, “for our soul” or “because, since and on account that our, David and his believing companions', inner man, mind, will, life, desires, and seat of emotions and passions” “is bowed down” which means “is sunk, humbled and depressed in mind” “to the dust” or “to the powder, loose earth and debris”. David said the hearts and minds of he and his fellow believers was humbled to the loose earth and debris of the ground.

The verse goes on to say,our belly cleaves unto the earth.” David continued with the words, “our belly” or “our, David and his believing companions, abdomen, seat of hunger and mental faculties” “cleaves unto the earth” which means “clings, sticks, stays close and joins itself toward the land, country, territory, district, region and ground”. David said the abdomen and seat of hunger and mental facilities of he and his companions joins themselves to the ground.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how humble and downcast David and his companions were at this time. This was part of David's plea to Jehovah God to pay attention to him, and because David thought God was asleep and did not care about him and his companions, he continued to feel depressed. God loves people, and He loved David. He always has His purpose and intent in mind as He allows us to endure afflictions. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to be crucified for the sins of all mankind, and when we submit our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us eternal life and accompany us through good times and bad. When difficulties arise, let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for their eternal perspective in that which we endure.

Next time David says, arise for our help, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
