The LORD's Wonderful Works - Psalms 40:5

In Psalms chapter forty David said, “I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And he has put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. Blessed is that man that makes the LORD his trust, and respects not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies”, and in chapter forty and verse five of Psalms David said, “many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done” where we read,

Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.

The verse begins, Many, O LORD my God, are your wonderful works which you have done, and your thoughts which are to us-ward: David began with the words, “Many, O LORD my God” or “abounding and numerous, O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name of the One True God, my, David's, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God” “are your wonderful works” which means “are your, Jehovah God's, marvelous, surpassing and extraordinary acts and deeds” “which you have done” or “that you, Jehovah God, have performed, produced, fashioned and made”, “and your thoughts” which means “and your, Jehovah God's, devises, purposes, plans and intentions” “which are to us-ward” or “that are toward us, David and his fellow believers”. David recognized the marvelous acts and deeds of Jehovah God that were directed toward him and the fellow believers who were with him.

The verse goes on to say, they cannot be reckoned up in order unto you: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.” David continued with the words, “they cannot be reckoned up” or “they, the marvelous acts and deeds of Jehovah God, are not able to be arranged, stated, set forth, compared or valued” “in order unto you” which means “in an arranged manner toward you, Jehovah God”: “if I would declare” or “whether and in case I, people David, were to be conspicuous, announce, make known and expound” “and speak of them” which means “and utter, declare and proclaim them, the numerous acts and deeds of Jehovah God”, “they are more than can be numbered” or “the marvelous acts and deeds of Jehovah God are so vast, mighty and powerful that they are unable to be counted, related, taken account of and reckoned”. David said the marvelous acts and deeds of Jehovah God are unable to be compared or valued because they are so numerous that no one is able to account for them all.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David recalled the marvelous works, acts and thoughts of Jehovah God, and he said they were so numerous they could not be accounted for or made known. God does so many wonderful things for people both known and unknown, and their number cannot be fully appreciated, spoken about or reckoned. God loves people, and He gave His Son Jesus to the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us provisions that are well beyond our ability to count. Let us praise the LORD Jesus for His wonderful blessings and words which we shall enjoy for all eternity.

Next time David says, sacrifice and offering you did not desire, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
