The Voice of Reproach and Blasphemy - Psalms 44:16

In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me, ...”, and in chapter forty four and verse sixteen of Psalms David shared about, “the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes” where we read,

For the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

The verse begins, For the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes; David began with the words, “for the voice of him” or “because, since and on account that the noise and sound of uttered words belonging to him, the mocking taunter” “that reproaches” which means “who blasphemes, defies, jeopardizes, rails upon and upbraids” “and blasphemes” or “and reviles and reproaches”. David referred to the noise of his mocker who defies, rails upon and reproaches him.

The verse continues,by reason of the enemy and avenger.” David added the words, “by reason” or “through and by means of the presence, countenance and anger” “of the enemy” which means “belonging to the hating foe and adversary” “and avenger” or “and the one who takes revenge and punishes”. David said his “confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me” because of the “reproaches and blasphemies” of his hating foe and the one who punishes.

When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David heard the voice of the people who hated him, and this is why his “confusion was continually before him”. This caused him to be shame-faced, and he wondered why Jehovah God was not coming to his rescue. God's delays are because He has perfect timing, and He is all knowing. He knew people had sin in their lives which kept them separated from a relationship with Him, so He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Let us believe in Jehovah God and His Son Jesus and give them praise and honor for their provision both now and according to their perfect timing.

Next time David says, all this is come upon us, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
