Selling Your People for Nought - Psalms 44:12

In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “You have given us like sheep appointed for meat; and have scattered us among the heathen.”, and in chapter forty four and verse twelve of Psalms David said, “you sell your people for nought” where we read,

You sell your people for nought, and do not increase your wealth by their price.

The verse begins, You sell your people for nought, ... David began with the words, “you sell your people” or “you, Jehovah God, merchandise and surrender your, Jehovah God's human beings both male and female” “for nought” which means “without any substance, wealth or riches”. David told Jehovah God that He surrendered His “people” for no wealth, riches or substance.

The verse continues, “... and do not increase your wealth by their price.” David added the words, “and do not increase your wealth” or “and in no way multiply, enlarge or greatly heap up your, Jehovah God's, valor, force, strength and riches” “by their price” which means “through the means of their, the people's, hire, reward and gain”. David said Jehovah God did not enlarge His own riches by the value of the people He sold.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David believed God sold or surrendered His own people for little value, and because of this, they added nothing to His personal wealth. God makes people valuable, and even though David did not believe so at the time, they were. Because mankind is so important to God, He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of every person. When we surrender our lives to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and provide His Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth and be empower to live according to that truth even when we incorrectly feel abandoned by Him.

Next time David says, you make us a reproach to our neighbors, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
