Boasting in God All Day Long - Psalms 44:8

In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “You are my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob. Through you will we push down our enemies: through your name will we tread them under that rise up against us. For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me. But you have saved us from our enemies, and have put them to shame that hated us”, and in chapter forty four and verse eight of Psalms David said, “In God we boast all the day long” where we read,

In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

The verse begins, In God we boast all the day long, … David began with the words, “In God we boast” or “within God, the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God, we, David and his believing companions will commend as praiseworthy and renown” “all the day long” which means “throughout the entire sunrise to sunset and sunset to sunrise”. David commended the praiseworthiness and renown of Jehovah God throughout the entire day and night.

The verse continues, “... and praise your name for ever. Selah.” David added the words, “and praise your name” or “and give thanks, confess, laud, revere and worship your, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and glory” “for ever” which means “for long duration, futurity, everlasting, perpetually and evermore”. “Selah” or “uplift, exalt and pause to meditate upon it”. David said he and his believing companions would worship and laud the reputation, fame and glory of Jehovah God throughout eternity, and he encouraged everyone reading and listening to his words to pause and meditate upon this idea.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David's attention, focus and bragging was upon Jehovah God whom he knew he and his believing companions would worship, honor and give glory to forever. God desires to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus, and when we submit to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and afford us an opportunity to give Him praise in Heaven forever. God loves us, and He is our strength, protection, provision and shield, and when we surrender to Him, we are positioned in the greatest place we could ever be throughout eternity.

Next time David says, you have cast off, and put us to shame, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
