Pushing Down Our Enemies - Psalms 44:5

In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “You are my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob”, and in chapter forty four and verse five of Psalms David said, “through you will we push down our enemies” where we read,

Through you will we push down our enemies:

through your name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

The verse begins, Through you will we push down our enemies: David began with the words, “through you” or “by way and means of you, Jehovah God” “will we push down” which means “shall we, David and his believing companions, thrust, gore and wage war against” “our enemies” or “our, David and his believing companions', hating foes and adversaries”. David said by way of Jehovah God he and his believing companions would trust away and wage war in opposition to his hating foes.

The verse goes on to say, through your name will we tread them under that rise up against us.” David continued with the words, “through your name” or “by way and manner of your, Jehovah God's, reputation, fame and glory” “will we tread them under” which means “shall we, David and his believing companions, reject, trample down and desecrate them, the hating foes” “that rise up against us” or “who arise, stand up and become powerful in opposition toward us, David and his believing companions”. David said by means of the reputation, fame and glory of Jehovah God he and his believing companions would trample the opposition of their hating adversaries.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David had confidence in Jehovah God to overcome his hating foes, and he knew through the reputation, fame and glory of God he would trample people who opposed him under his feet. In other words, Jehovah God was David's provision and protector, and He would defend David against anyone who was his “enemy”. God loves people, and His desire and offer is to have a personal relationship with them through His Son Jesus. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of all mankind, and anyone who believes and trusts in Him will be forgiven of their sins, granted everlasting life and gain the reputation, fame and glory of Jehovah God to defend them when hating adversaries arise and oppose.

Next time David says,I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
