Sheep Appointed for Meat - Psalms 44:11

In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “In God we boast all the day long, and praise your name for ever. Selah. But you have cast off, and put us to shame; and go not forth with our armies. You make us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves”, and in chapter forty four and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “you have given us like sheep appointed for meat” where we read,

You have given us like sheep appointed for meat; and have scattered us among the heathen.

The verse begins, You have given us like sheep appointed for meat; David began with the words, “you have given us like sheep” or “you, Jehovah God, have put, set, fixed and established us, David and his believing companions, in similar manner to small cattle such as sheep” “appointed for meat” which means “constituted, appointed and made as provender, food or victual”. David said Jehovah God made he and his believing companions to be like small cattle that were appointed to be food.

The verse goes on to say,and have scattered us among the heathen.” David continued with the words, “and have scattered us” or “and have dispersed, cast away and spread us, David and his believing companions” “among the heathen” which means “beside and alongside the non-Hebrew, non-believing, foreign and pagan people”. David said Jehovah God also spread he and his fellow believers alongside the pagan and foreign people.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David felt like Jehovah God abandoned and spread he and his believing companions to dwell among their “enemies”. God watches over every person, and when they submit to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and accompany them in difficulties and afflictions. God is for us and not against us, and when we feel like He has forsaken us and given us over to our hating foes, let us remember, God is with us, and His desire is to be with us for all eternity.

Next time David says, you sell your people for nought, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
