Our Heart Not Turned Back - Psalms 44:18

In Psalms chapter forty four David said, “My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face has covered me, for the voice of him that reproaches and blasphemes; by reason of the enemy and avenger. All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten you, neither have we dealt falsely in your covenant”, and in chapter forty four and verse eighteen of Psalms David said, “our heart is not turned back” where we read,

Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from your way;

The verse begins, Our heart is not turned back, ... David began with the words, “Our heart” or “Our, David and his believing companions' inner man, mind, will, understanding, soul, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory, inclination, resolution, determination, and seat of appetites, emotions and passions” “is not turned back” which means “is in no way backslid, proved recreant, driven back and repulsed”. David said he and his companions continued to have their souls in a non-retreating manner.

The verse continues, “... neither have our steps declined from your way;” David added the words, “neither have our steps declined” or “no and not in any way have our goings bowed down, stretched out or turned aside” “from your way” which means “separate and apart from your, Jehovah God's, path, road and manner of life”. David said the goings of he and his believing companions in no way bowed down or turned aside from Jehovah God's path.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David and his companions continued to be committed to Jehovah God even while their enemies were afflicting them and making them feel shame. God allows difficulties to come into our lives to test our faithfulness to Him. He is faithful at all times to us, and He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified for the sins of the world so that mankind could have an opportunity to have their sins forgiven and be granted everlasting life with Him. God loves us, and when we surrender our lives to Jesus, our faith in Him will be tested, but God shall give us the power to keep His “way” as we go.

Next time David says,you have sore broken us in the place of dragons, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
