Call His Name Loammi - Hosea 1:9

In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared when his wife Gomer, “had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son”, and in chapter one and verse nine of Hosea, Hosea said, “then said God, Call his name Loammi” where we read,

Then said God, Call his name Loammi:

for you are not my people, and I will not be your God. 

The verse begins, “Then said God, Call his name Loammi:” Hosea began with the words, “then said God” which means “at that time uttered, declared and proclaimed the Divine One, Jehovah God, who is the True God”, “Call his name” or “cry out, proclaim and publish his, the second son's title, designation and label as” “Loammi” which means “not my people”. Hosea was instructed by Jehovah God to name this male child “not my people”. 

The verse continues, “for you are not my people, and I will not be your God.” Hosea added the words, “for you are not my people” or “because, since and on account that you, the nation of Israel, do not exist as my, Jehovah God's, compatriots, country-men, kinsman, kindred and nation”, “and I will not be your God” which means “and I, Jehovah God, shall in no way or manner exist as your, the nations of Israel's, Supreme Deity Jehovah God”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God did not consider the people of the nation of Israel His compatriots any longer, and He proclaimed that He would in no way exist as their Supreme Deity. 

When we consider the words in this verse, we see learn how Hosea was instructed by Jehovah God to name this second male child “not my people” which was a direct reference to the nation of Israel. Because Israel forsook the LORD, He would forsake them. God's desire is to have a personal relationship with every person through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and liberate and save us. If we refuse to follow Him, He will forsake us and we shall forever live in separation from Him. 

Next time Hosea says, “the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
