Discovering Her Lewdness - Hosea 2:10

In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said of the nation of Israel, “she did not know that I gave her corn, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, which they prepared for Baal. Therefore will I return, and take away my corn in the time thereof, and my wine in the season thereof, and will recover my wool and my flax given to cover her nakedness”, and in chapter two and verse ten of Hosea, Hosea said, “now will I discover her lewdness” where we read,

And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers,

and none shall deliver her out of my hand.

The verse begins, “And now will I discover her lewdness in the sight of her lovers, ...” Hosea began with the words, “and now will I discover her lewdness” or “and at this time shall I, Hosea and Jehovah God, uncover and reveal her, Gomer's and the nation of Israel's, immodesty, shamelessness and pudenda” “in the sight of her lovers” which means “within the presence and appearance belonging to her, Gomer's and the nation of Israel's, sexual and idolatrous companions”. Hosea said he would reveal the shame and immodesty of his wife Gomer even as Jehovah God would expose the immodesty of the nation of Israel.

The verse goes on to say, “... and none shall deliver her out of my hand.” Hosea continued with the words, “and none shall deliver her” or “and not one person will rescue, save or liberate her, Gomer and the nation of Israel” “out of my hand” which means “separate and apart from my, Jehovah God's, physical hand of power, might and charge”. Hosea said no one would liberate or rescue the nation of Israel from God's power and might.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how Jehovah God would reveal the immodesty of the nation of Israel even as Hosea would expose his wife Gomer's shame. Not one person would have the power to rescue the nation of Israel from God's strength, and this is how Jehovah God desires it to be. God loves people, and He wants to have a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of the world. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and cleanse us from all unrighteousness as He secures us within His mighty hand.

Next time Hosea says, “I will also cause all her mirth to cease”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
