In the book of Proverbs Lemuel asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? … She is not afraid of the snow for her household: for all her household are clothed with scarlet”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twenty-two of Proverbs King Lemuel said, “she makes herself coverings of tapestry” where we read,
She makes herself coverings of tapestry;
her clothing is silk and purple.
The verse begins, “She makes herself coverings of tapestry;” Lemuel began with the words, “she makes herself coverings” or “she, the virtuous woman her own self, fashions, accomplishes and produces coverlets or spreads” “of tapestry” which means “made with cloth, fabric and material”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” produces coverlets made with cloth and material.
The verse continues, “her clothing is silk and purple.” Lemuel added the words, “her clothing” or “her the virtuous woman's, garments, apparel and raiment” “is silk and purple” which means “exists with bleached white, byssus, fine linen and red-purple dyed material”. Lemuel said the garments and apparel of “the virtuous woman” are made of bleached white and red-purple dyed material.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Lemuel how “the virtuous woman” produces her own garments which are fabricated with bleached white and purple dyed fine materials. These are exquisite materials, and those who wear apparel tailored with these expensive fabrics are regarded with respect and honor. God wants us to be in a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, not only will He forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life, but He also will teach us how to care for our own presentation before others so they will see Him reflected within us. (See Colossians 1:27)
