In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared when his wife Gomer, “had weaned Loruhamah, she conceived, and bare a son. Then said God, Call his name Loammi: for you are not my people, and I will not be your God”, and in chapter one and verse ten of Hosea, Hosea said, “the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea” where we read,
Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea,
which cannot be measured nor numbered;
and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them,
you are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, you are the sons of the living God.
The verse begins, “Yet the number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, ...” Hosea began with the words, “yet the number of the children” which means “still the amount or count pertaining to the offspring and progeny” “of Israel” or “belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and was the name used and given to the northern kingdom consisting of the ten tribes under Jeroboam” “shall be as the sand” which means “will exist similar and in likeness to the whirling round particles” “of the sea” or “belonging to the large body of water such as the Red, Dead and Mediterranean Sea”. Hosea shared how Jehovah God told him the offspring of the nation of Israel would be more in count than the sand particles within the large body of water known as the “sea”.
The verse goes on to say, “which cannot be measured nor numbered;” Hosea continued with the words, “which cannot be measured” or “that in no way is able or capable of being stretched, extended and meted out” “nor numbered” which means “no and not in any way to be accounted of, reckoned or declared”. Hosea shared how the amount of the offspring within the nation of Israel would be so vast that they could not be meted out nor counted.
The verse continues, “and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them,...” Hosea added, “and it shall come to pass” or “and it will happen, occur, fall out, arise and appear”, “that in the place” which means “that within the location” “where it was said unto them” or “in the place that the following was uttered, declared and proclaimed to the nation of Israel”. Hosea said the following would occur in the location that people declared the next words about Israel.
Finally the verse says, “you are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, you are the sons of the living God.” Hosea concluded this verse with the words, “you are not my people” or “you, nation of Israel, do not exist as my, Jehovah God's, nation, compatriots and country-men”, “there it shall be said unto them” which means “in that place it will be uttered, declared and proclaimed to the nation of Israel”, “you are the sons of the living God” or “you, nation of Israel, exist as the offspring and progeny belonging to the fresh, alive and active Supreme Deity Jehovah God”. Hosea ended this verse by referring to the place that people proclaimed that the nation of Israel were not Jehovah God's nation, but God would intervene and they would be revealed as His nation once again.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Hosea how Jehovah God promised to multiply the people within the nation of Israel, and the amount of them would be so vast, they would be innumerable. In the location that people said “Israel” was not Jehovah God's, God would come to their rescue and they would be known as His once again. God loves the nation of Israel, and the whole world should take note of this. When we align with God's perfect provision for our lives, we realize His Son Jesus came through the people of Israel to die on the cross for the sins of everyone. Jesus will be the “Savior and Lord” of all who surrender to Him. God loves Israel, and He loves us. He alone is able to make Israel and us completely free and so numerous that we are similar in number to the “sands of the sea”.
Next time Hosea says, “then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
