In the book of Proverbs Lemuel asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband does safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twelve of Proverbs King Lemuel said, “she will do him good and not evil” where we read,
She will do him good and not evil
all the days of her life.
The verse begins, “She will do him good and not evil ...” Lemuel began with the words, “she will do him good” or “she, the virtuous woman, shall deal bountifully and recompense him, the virtuous woman's husband, pleasantness, agreeableness and excellence” “and not evil” which means “and in no way bad, disagreeableness, malignancy and unpleasantness”. Lemuel said the “virtuous woman” would bountifully provide pleasantness and excellence to her husband and not malignancy and wickedness.
The verse continues, “... all the days of her life.” Lemuel added the words, “all the days” or “each, every, the whole and everyone of the sunrises to sunsets” “of her life” which means “belonging to her, the virtuous woman's, living”. Lemuel said the “virtuous woman” would provide pleasantness to her husband for every day she lives.
When we think through Lemuel's words in this verse, we learn about another characteristic of the “virtuous woman”. She provides pleasantness to her husband every day she lives, and she does not bring him malignancy and wickedness. God wants all of us to have this trait, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us the ability through His Holy Spirit to provide excellence for those He gives us every day we live.
Next time Lemuel says, “she seeks wool, and flax, and works willingly”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
