Making Fine Linen and Selling It - Proverbs 31:24

In the book of Proverbs Lemuel asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? … Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twenty-four of Proverbs King Lemuel said, “she makes fine linen, and sells it” where we read,

She makes fine linen, and sells it;

and delivers girdles unto the merchant.

The verse begins, She makes fine linen, and sells it; Lemuel began with the words, “she make fine linen” or “she, the virtuous woman, fashions, accomplishes, works and produces pieces, wrappers and sheet like precise material”, “and sells it” which means “and merchandises the fine linen”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” produces valuable and precise material and merchandises it for profit.

The verse goes on to say, “and delivers girdles unto the merchant. Lemuel continued with the words, “and delivers girdles” or “and gives, puts, sets, and ascribes waist cloths or belts” “unto the merchant” which means “toward the trader or mercantile caravans”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” presents her belts or waist cloths to the trader.

When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Lemuel how “the virtuous woman” continues to be industrious with business. Not only does she produce “fine” clothing, but she offers them for sale to people who are traders in these items. These are God given abilities, and when we surrender our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us, like He does the virtuous woman, an acumen for industry and negotiations in trade.

Next time Lemuel says, “strength and honor are her clothing”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
