In the book of Proverbs Lemuel asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? … She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twenty-eight of Proverbs King Lemuel said, “her children arise up, and call her blessed” where we read,
Her children arise up, and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her.
The verse begins, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed;” Lemuel began with the words, “her children arise up” or “her, the virtuous woman's, offspring and progeny stand, establish and confirm her”, “and call her blessed” which means “and refer to her, the virtuous woman, as advanced, straight and happy”. Lemuel said the offspring of “the virtuous woman” refer to her as straight and happy.
The verse goes on to say, “her husband also, and he praises her.” Lemuel continued with the words, “her husband also” or “her, the virtuous woman's, male wedded spouse even so and indeed calls her blessed”, “and he praises her” which means “and he, the virtuous woman's husband, commends, boasts and glories in her, the virtuous woman”. Lemuel said the “husband” of “the virtuous woman” glories and boasts in her.
When we meditate upon words in this verse, we learn through Lemuel how the offspring and male spouse of “the virtuous woman” not only consider her happy, but they also boast and glory in her. The character of “the virtuous woman” is worthy of consideration, and because every good gift comes down from God Himself, (See James 1:17) He is able to extend His gifts to whomever He wills. God wants us to have a personal relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who was crucified on the cross for our sins. When we surrender our lives to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a character that makes those closest to us consider us as straight, happy and commendable.
Next time Lemuel says, “many daughters have done virtuously”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
