In the book of Hosea, Hosea shared how Jehovah God said, “you are the sons of the living God, then shall the children of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel. Say you unto your brethren, Ammi; and to your sisters, Ruhamah”, and in chapter two and verse two of Hosea, Hosea said, “plead with your mother , plead” where we read,
Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife,neither am I her husband:
let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight,
and her adulteries from between her breasts;
The verse begins, “Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband:” Hosea began with the words, “plead with your mother, plead” which means “strive, contend and complain with your, the male and female offspring of Hosea's, female immediate progenitor and ancestor”: “for she is not my wife” or “because, since and on account that she, the mother of Ammi and Ruhamah, was in no way his female wedded spouse”, “neither am I her husband” which means “no and not in any way am I, Hosea, her, Ammi and Ruhamah mother's, male wedded spouse”. Hosea called upon his children “Ammi and Ruhamah” to contend with their mother, Gomer, who was not acting like his“wife” any longer.
The verse continues, “let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, ...” Hosea added the words, “let her therefore” or “allow and permit her, Hosea's wife and Ammi and Ruhamah's mother, then, wherefore, consequently and on this account” “put away her whoredoms” which means “turn aside from, avoid and be removed from her, Hosea's wife and Ammi and Ruhamah's mother” “out of her sight” or “separate and apart from her, Hosea's wife and Ammi and Ruhamah's mother's, countenance, face and presence”. Hosea said to allow Gomer and the nation of Israel to abandon their prostitution and to remove it from their presence.
Finally the verse says, “... and her adulteries from between her breasts;” Hosea concluded this verse with the words, “and her adulteries” or “and her, Hosea's wife and Ammi and Ruhamah's mother's, committing adultery and idolatrous worship of Baal” “from between her breasts” which means “separate and apart from her, Hosea's wife and Ammi and Ruhamah's mother's, bosom, pap or chest”. Hosea said that the idolatrous adultery of Gomer and the nation of Israel was to be removed from the center core of both of them.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we discover how Hosea was aware of his wife's adulteries even as Jehovah God knew the nation of Israel committed spiritual fornication against Him. God wanted these removed from both of them, and to demonstrate His care and concern for Israel, He used Hosea's experience as an illustration concerning them. God wants all of us to abandon any other gods in our lives, and when we yield to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a passion to keep Him first in our lives and to avoid having any other gods before Him. (See Exodus 20:3; Matthew 6:33)
Next time Hosea says, “lest I strip her naked”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
