Clothing of Strength and Honor - Proverbs 31:25

In the book of Proverbs Lemuel asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? … She makes fine linen, and sells it; and delivers girdles unto the merchant”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twenty-five of Proverbs King Lemuel said, “strength and honor are her clothing” where we read,

Strength and honor are her clothing;

and she shall rejoice in time to come.

The verse begins, “Strength and honor are her clothing;” Lemuel began with the words, “strength and honor” or “power, might and ability as well as splendor, majesty, glory and excellence” “are her clothing” which means “exist as her, the virtuous woman's, garment, apparel and raiment”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” is clothed with power, might, ability, majesty and glory.

The verse continues, “and she shall rejoice in time to come.” Lemuel added the words, “and she shall rejoice” or “and she, the virtuous woman, will laugh, play, make sport and jest” “in time to come” which means “in the day, year and period yet in the future”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” would make sport, jest and be joyful in the future.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Lemuel what drives “the virtuous woman”. Might, power, ability, glory and excellence cause her to be successful, and all of these come from Jehovah God. God loves to share His traits with anyone who will yield their life to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put His traits within us that make us successful in this world and in the eternal life to come.
