In the book of Proverbs Lemuel asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? …Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twenty-nine of Proverbs King Lemuel said, “many daughters have done virtuously” where we read,
Many daughters have done virtuously,
but you excel them all.
The verse begins, “Many daughters have done virtuously, ...” Lemuel began with the words, “many daughters” or “a great and abundant number of female offsprings and progenies” “have done virtuously” which means “have made, fashioned, accomplished and produced in a strong, mighty and efficient way”. Lemuel said a great number of female offsprings have produced in a strong and efficient manner.
The verse continues, “... but you excel them all.” Lemuel added the words, “but you excel” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, the virtuous woman, climb and ascend above each, every, the whole and everyone of” “them all” which means “the many daughters”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” ascended above every one of the “many daughters” who were also virtuous.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Lemuel how there were numerous female offsprings, however, none of them compared to “the virtuous woman”. God gives people certain talents and abilities that exceed others, and when this occurs, the one receiving their gift should always give all the glory to God. God loves us, and His desire is to have a personal intimate relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins. When we believe and trust in Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and produce gifts in us that excel others to the glory of His name.
Next time Lemuel says, “favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
