In the book of Proverbs Lemuel asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The heart of her husband does safely trust in her, so that he shall have no need of spoil … She considers a field, and buys it: with the fruit of her hands she plants a vineyard”, and in chapter thirty one and verse seventeen of Proverbs King Lemuel said, “she girds her loins with strength” where we read,
She girds her loins with strength,
and strengthens her arms.
The verse begins, “She girds her loins with strength, ...” Lemuel began with the words, “she girds her loins” or “she, the virtuous woman, puts on and appoints her slender hips or waist” “with strength” which means “by the use of power, might and ability”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” puts power and might around her slender waist.
The verse goes on to say, “... and strengthens her arms.” Lemuel continued with the words, “and strengthens” or “and makes strong and mighty” “her arms” which means “her, the virtuous woman's, forearms and shoulders”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” also makes her forearms and shoulders powerful.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Lemuel how “the virtuous woman” also makes herself powerful and mighty. She is energetic and a more than efficient worker. God gives people these characteristics, and because He loves us and desires to have a personal relationship with us, He gave His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross so we could be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and granted power, might, ability and a passion to to be an effective worker in His Kingdom when we put our faith and trust in Him.
Next time Lemuel says, “she perceives that her merchandise is good”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
