In the book of Proverbs Lemuel asked, “Who can find a virtuous woman? … She opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness”, and in chapter thirty one and verse twenty-seven of Proverbs King Lemuel said, “she looks well to the ways of her household” where we read,
She looks well to the ways of her household,
and eats not the bread of idleness.
The verse begins, “She looks well to the ways of her household, ...” Lemuel began with the words, “she looks well” or “she, the virtuous woman, keeps watch over, spies and observes closely” “to the ways” which means “toward the goings, travelings and procession” “of her household” or “pertaining to her, the virtuous woman's, dwelling, habitation, shelter and abode”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” carefully observes the doings of her dwelling and home.
The verse continues, “... and eats not the bread of idleness.” Lemuel added the words, “and eats not” or “and does not consume or devour” “the bread of idleness” which means “the meat, grain or food pertaining to sluggishness, indolence and laziness”. Lemuel said “the virtuous woman” does not devour or consume the nourishment pertaining to laziness.
When we consider Lemuel's words in this verse, we learn how “the virtuous woman” carefully observes the procession of her home, and she is not lazy. God wants us to care for our homes, and we are not to be indolent and sluggish. God loves us, and His ways are best. He gave us His Son Jesus to die on the cross for our sins, and when we yield to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and put within us a desire to watch over our families and to be industrious and not lazy in His Kingdom.
Next time Lemuel says, “her children arise up, and call her blessed”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
