Be Not Far From Me - Psalms 22:11

In Psalms chapter twenty-two David speaking about Jehovah God wrote, “you are he that took me out of the womb: you did make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts. I was cast upon you from the womb: you are my God from my mother's belly, and in chapter twenty two and verse eleven of Psalms David said,Be not far from me; for trouble is near where we read,

Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.

The verse begins, “Be not far from me; for trouble is near; David began with the words, “Be not far from me” which means “do not be distant and removed apart from me, David”; “for trouble is near” or “because, since and on account that straits, distress, anguish, adversity, tribulation and vexation exists as ready and in close proximity”. David wanted Jehovah God not to be distant from him because anguish and adversity were in close proximity to him.

The verse continues, “for there is none to help. David added the words, “for there is none” or “because, since and on account that there exists not one person” “to help” which means “who will succor, support or give aid to David”. David said there was no one who would give him aid during the difficulties and adversaries that were close to him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn how David felt alone even as difficulties were close at hand. He called upon Jehovah God to help because no one was going to bring him aid. Jesus felt this way on the cross as He died for the sins of the world. No one could help him, and even Jehovah God turned his back upon Him. (See Matthew 26:56, 27:56 and Mark 15:34) This happened because Jehovah God is Holy, and He turned away from the sins of the world which were placed upon Jesus. Now everyone who believes and trusts in Him as their personal “Savior and Lord” will receive forgiveness of sins and the promise of eternal life. No one helped Jesus, and because He endured these things for us, we who believe in Him will praise Him for all eternity for being alone in trouble.

Next time David says, Many bulls have compassed me, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
