Lift Up Your Heads - Psalms 24:7

In Psalms chapter twenty-four David asked, “Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy place? He that has clean hands, and a pure heart; who has not lifted up his soul unto vanity, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive the blessing from the LORD, and righteousness from the God of his salvation. This is the generation of them that seek him, that seek your face, O Jacob. Selah”, and in chapter twenty four and verse seven of Psalms David said, “Lift up your heads, O you gates” where we read,

Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be you lift up, you everlasting doors;

and the King of glory shall come in.

The verse begins, Lift up your heads, O you gates; and be you lift up, you everlasting doors;” David began with the words, “Lift up your heads” which means “bear up, carry, support and sustain your summits, upper parts, heights and fronts”, “O you gates” or “O you places of entrance and openings”; “and be you lift up” which means “and bear up, carry, support and sustain your summits, upper parts, heights and fronts”, “you everlasting doors” or “you forever, continuous and perpetual openings, doorways and entrances”. David called for the entrances and perpetual opening to be supported and sustained and the following would occur.

The verse continues,and the King of glory shall come in.” David added the words, “and the King of glory” or “and the Royal ruler and judge with honor, abundance, riches and reverence” “shall come in” which means “will enter”. David said the “Royal ruler, Jehovah God, would enter when the “gates and everlasting doors” are supported and sustained.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how there was “entrance” to be made for Jehovah God, and when access was provided, He would “come in”. God desires to enter into everyone's heart and life through His Son Jesus, and when we submit to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life with Him. Let us open the “doors” to our hearts and souls and allow the “King of glory” to come in and be among us. (See Revelation 3:20)

Next time David asks, “Who is this King of glory?, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
