Trusting the LORD to Deliver - Psalms 22:8

In Psalms chapter twenty-two David wrote about Jehovah God saying, “Our fathers trusted in you: they trusted, and you did deliver them. They cried unto you, and were delivered: they trusted in you, and were not confounded. But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ..., and in chapter twenty two and verse eight of Psalm we learn how the people said,He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him where we read,

He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.

The verse begins, “He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: David began with the words, “He trusted” which means “He, king David, had faith, confidence and committed” “on the LORD” or “upon Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “that he would deliver him” which means “that he, Jehovah God, would rescue, save and bring David to safety and security”. David told how the people who were against him would mockingly declare that he had confidence within Jehovah God that He would save and rescue him.

The verse goes on to say, “let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. David continued with the words, “let him deliver him” or “allow and permit him, Jehovah God, to rescue, save and liberate him, David”, “seeing he delighted” which means “since, because and on account that he, Jehovah God, takes pleasure and has favor” “in him” or “within David”. David wrote how the people in opposition to him would continue to mock him by declaring that Jehovah God should “rescue and save” him since he favors and takes pleasure in him.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see through David's words how the people in opposition to him continued to mock him by declaring his faith in Jehovah God which should merit his being rescued. They also said God should save him because Jehovah favors and takes pleasure in David. Those who opposed David did not believe him, so they made fun of his declarations and positions. This is exactly what happened with Jesus on the cross as the religious leaders and people mocked Him while He was dying for the sins of the world. (See Matthew 27:42-43) This prophetic word by David concerning himself also applied to the Messiah Jesus, and when we believe and trust in Jesus Christ as our personal “Savior and Lord”, we will be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with God. Jehovah God planned the salvation of mankind and demonstrated it through David, and we will praise Him for all eternity because we yielded ourselves to His Divine plan.

Next time David says, you are he that took me out of the womb, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
