Good and Upright is the LORD - Psalms 25:8

In Psalms chapter twenty-five David said,Remember not the sins of my youth, nor my transgressions: according to your mercy remember you me for your goodness' sake, O LORD”, and in chapter twenty five and verse eight of Psalms David said, “Good and upright is the LORD” where we read,

Good and upright is the LORD: therefore will he teach sinners in the way.

The verse begins, Good and upright is the LORD:” David began with the word, “Good” which means “pleasant, agreeable, excellent, rich and valuable” “and upright” or “and correct, right, pleasing, straightforward, fitting and proper”“is the LORD” which means “exists Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David declared Jehovah God to be “pleasant, agreeable, valuable, correct, right, straightforward and proper”.

The verse goes on to say, therefore will he teach sinners in the way.” David continued with the words, “therefore will he teach sinners” or “wherefore and on this account shall he, Jehovah God direct, instruct and show sinful people who are exposed to condemnation and reckoned as offenders” “in the way” which means “within the path, direction, habit, manner and journey”. David concluded that because Jehovah God is “good and upright” He will give instruction and direct people who have been condemned and reckoned as offenders .

When we think through the words in this verse, we learn how David wrote of the “pleasant, valuable, correct and right” characteristics of Jehovah God, and because of these, He instructs people who are “condemned” by their errors and wrongs. Jesus said, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believes on him is not condemned: but he that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.” (See John 3:16-20) The gospel of Jehovah God is that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins of “condemned” people, and because He is “good and upright” when we receive Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, , He will forgive our sins and grant us eternal life with Him. Let Jehovah God be praised and honored for His wonderful character and His willingness to receive every person who humbles themselves before Him and His Son Jesus.

Next time David says, “The meek will he guide in judgment, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
