Gather Not My Soul With Sinners - Psalms 26:9

In Psalms chapter twenty-six David said, “LORD, I have loved the habitation of your house, and the place where your honor dwells”, and in chapter twenty six and verse nine of Psalms David said, “Gather not my soul with sinners” where we read,

Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:

The verse begins, Gather not my soul with sinners, ...”. David began with the words, “Gather not my soul” which means “do not receive, collect and assemble my, David's, inner man, mind, will, appetite and seat of emotions and passions” “with sinners” or “alongside and toward offenders, criminals and ones accounted as guilty”. David appealed to Jehovah God not to assemble his inner being, mind and heart with people who are offenders and guilty.

The verse continues, “... nor my life with bloody men:” David added the words, “nor my life” or “no and not in any way my, David's, sustenance, maintenance and appetite” “with bloody men” which means “alongside and toward people, whether male or female, who cause bloodshed”. David asked Jehovah God not to associate his living with people who cause bloodshed as murderers.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see David's appeal to Jehovah God for him not to be assembled with people who are guilty and criminal even unto bloodshed or murder. David desired to be with His Holy God, and he wanted no association with people who violated God's laws and ways. This came through an intimate personal relationship with Jehovah God, and God has made a way for every person to relate to Him like this. He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we believe and trust in Him as our personal “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and remain in fellowship and communion with us all the days of our lives on earth and in Heaven.

Next time David says, “their right hand is full of bribes, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
