No Usury or Reward Against the Innocent - Psalms 15:5

In Psalms chapter fifteen David asked, “LORD, who shall abide in your tabernacle? who shall dwell in your holy hill? He that walks uprightly, and works righteousness, and speaks the truth in his heart. He that backbites not with his tongue, nor does evil to his neighbor, nor takes up a reproach against his neighbor. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honors them that fear the LORD. He that swears to his own hurt, and changes not, and in Psalms chapter fifteen and verse five David refers to the person, that puts not out his money to usury, nor takes reward against the innocent where we read,

He that puts not out his money to usury, nor takes reward against the innocent.

He that does these things shall never be moved.

The verse begins, He that puts not out his money to usury, nor takes reward against the innocent. David began with the words, “He that puts not out his money” which means “the person whether male or female who does not lend, give, grant or permit the person's silver or shekels” “to usury” or “for interest on a debt”, “nor takes reward” which means “and the person does not fetch, lay hold of, carry away or conduct a bribe or present” “against the innocent” or “in opposition to people who are clean, free, exempt from punishment”. David said the person who dwells in the sacred “tabernacle and holy hill” of Jehovah God do not lend their money for interest, and they do not take a bribe from people who are free and exempt from punishment.

The verse goes on to say,He that does these things shall never be moved. David continued with the words, “He that does these things” or “the person whether male or female who makes ready, performs and produces the previous traits” “shall never be moved” which means “will not at any time totter, shake, slip and let themselves fall”. David said the person who lives according to the traits he mentioned earlier in this Psalm would not be shaken or made to totter from their positions.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn from David there is a distinct advantage to living in a manner that allows a person to dwell in Jehovah God's “tabernacle and holy hill”. God wants people to live with Him forever, and because they have sin in their lives that separate them from doing so, He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross so their sins would be forgiven. He cleanses believers from all unrighteousness, and helps them to have the traits in their lives that keep them stable and unmoved. Praise be to Jehovah God for providing access and ability to remain in a state that allows them to dwell in Heaven with Him forever.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David say, Preserve me, O God: for in you do I put my trust, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
