The Salvation of Israel - Psalms 14:7

In Psalms chapter fourteen David asked, Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous. You have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge, and in Psalms chapter fourteen and verse seven David said,Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion” where we read,

Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion!

when the LORD brings back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

The verse begins, Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! David began with the words, “Oh that the salvation” which means “Oh that deliverance, welfare, prosperity and victory” “of Israel” or “belonging to Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation belonging to Jacob” “were come out of Zion” which means “arose and appeared from Zion whose name means parched place and is another name for Jerusalem especially in the prophetic books”. David desired that Israel's deliverance and victory arise from Zion or Jerusalem.

The verse continues, when the LORD brings back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad. David added the words, “when the LORD” or “at the time and moment Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “brings back the captivity” which means “returns, restores, refreshes and repairs the former state of prosperity” “of his people” or “belonging to Jehovah God's nation, kinsman, compatriots and countrymen”, “Jacob shall rejoice” which means “Jacob whose name means heel catcher or supplanter will exult, be glad and spin around”, “and Israel” or “and Israel whose name means God prevails and is the name of the descendants and the nation belonging to Jacob”, “shall be glad” which means “will rejoice, exult, be gladden and be made gleesome”. David referred to the time and moment Jehovah God returns the former state of prosperity to His nation and people, “Jacob, which was his name before Jehovah changed it, and “Israel” (See Genesis 32:28) were to rejoice and be filled with cheer.

When we think through the words in this verse, we understand David's desire for Jehovah God to deliver and rescue “Israel”, and when He does, both the former name of His people, “Jacob” and the name given to them, “Israel” will rejoice and be cheerful. In other words, Jehovah God will provide prosperity and victory to His people, and there will be rejoicing and cheer over it. God loves people, and His desire is to bring about rescue to every person from the bondage of sin through belief and trust in His Son Jesus. Only Jehovah God through Jesus' death on the cross paid the penalty for sins, and anyone who comes to Him will be forgiven and granted everlasting life with Him. We, like “Jacob and Israel”, may rejoice and give praise to Jehovah God for His loving desire to deliver us to live eternally with Him.

Next time we begin a new chapter and see David asks the LORD, who shall abide in your tabernacle? who shall dwell in your holy hill?, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
