The LORD Keeps - Psalms 12:7

In Psalms chapter twelve David wrote, The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times, and in Psalms chapter twelve and verse seven David said, “You shall keep them, O LORD” where we read,

You shall keep them, O LORD, you shall preserve them from this generation for ever.

The verse begins, You shall keep them, O LORD, ...” David began with the words, “you shall keep them” which means “you, Jehovah God, will guard over, observe and give heed to the poor, needy and oppressed”, “O LORD” or “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”. David declared how Jehovah God would guard over, observe and give heed to the poor, needy and afflicted.

The verse continues, “... you shall preserve them from this generation for ever.” David added the words, “you shall preserve them” or “you, Jehovah God, will keep, observe and watch over the poor, needy and oppressed” “from this generation” which means “beginning with the current period, age and posterity” “for ever” or “to long duration, perpetually and to everlasting”. David wrote how Jehovah God would “watch over and keep people who are poor, needy and oppressed from now unto eternity.

When we consider the words in this verse, David affirms again how Jehovah God watches over and keeps people who are poor, needy and afflicted. He will continue His protection for all eternity. God wants people to yield to His Son Jesus so He can forgive their sins and grant them everlasting life with Him. Everyone is in need of Jehovah God and His Son Jesus, and His invitation to come to Him is open to all. The poor, needy and oppressed are watched over by Jehovah, and He makes Himself available to every person who yields and submits to Him.

Next time David says, The wicked walk on every side, when the vilest men are exalted, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
