Shaming the Counsel of the Poor - Psalms 14:6

In Psalms chapter fourteen David asked, Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Who eat up my people as they eat bread, and call not upon the LORD. There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous, and in Psalms chapter fourteen and verse six David said,You have shamed the counsel of the poor” where we read,

You have shamed the counsel of the poor, because the LORD is his refuge.

The verse begins, You have shamed the counsel of the poor, ... David began with the words, “You have shamed” which means “You, workers of iniquity, have disconcerted, disappointed and frustrated” “the counsel” or “the advice, advisement and purpose” “of the poor” which means “belonging to the afflicted, humble, wretched and weak”. David said workers of iniquity disappoint and frustrate the advice and purpose belonging to the weak and afflicted.

The verse goes on to say,... because the LORD is his refuge. David continued with the words, “because the LORD” or “since and on account that Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “is his refuge” which means “Jehovah God's is the poor person's hope and shelter from danger and falsehood”. David said the workers of iniquity disappoint and frustrate the advice of the weak and afflicted since Jehovah God exists as their shelter from danger and falsehood.

When we meditate upon words in this verse, we see how David knew people who work iniquity frustrate the advice of the poor because they know Jehovah God is their shelter and hope from falsehood and danger. God desires to be in a personal relationship with every person, and this is possible through believing and trusting in His Son Jesus. God wants to be everyone's “refuge and hope”, and when they yield to Jesus, He will forgive their sins, grant them everlasting life and dwell with them. Praise be to Jehovah God who knows people come against the weak and afflicted, and when they do, He dwells with them in the midst of adversity.

Next time David says, Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
