The Secret Place of God - Psalms 18:11

In Psalms chapter eighteen David said, “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears. Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth. There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it. He bowed the heavens also, and came down: and darkness was under his feet. And he rode upon a cherub, and did fly: yes, he did fly upon the wings of the wind”, and in chapter eighteen and verse eleven David said, He made darkness his secret place” where we read,

He made darkness his secret place;

his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies.

The verse begins, He made darkness his secret place; David began with the words, “He made darkness” which means “He, Jehovah God, set, put and constituted absolute obscurity” “his secret place” or “his, Jehovah God's, covering, shelter, hiding location and disguise”. David shared how Jehovah God constituted obscurity as His hiding place and disguise.

The verse goes on to say,his pavilion round about him were dark waters and thick clouds of the skies. David continued with the words, “his pavilion” or “his, Jehovah God's, thicket, covert and booth” “round about him” which means “from every side, circuit and surrounding Jehovah God” “were dark waters” or “existed as low and obscure wasting place which symbolized waste water” “and thick clouds of the skies” which means “and enveloping dark and thick densities pertaining to the dust and thin vapor”. David wrote how the covert booth surrounding Jehovah God existed as hidden waste places within the “skies”.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David said Jehovah God dwells in absolute obscurity as He employs the “dark waters” and “thick clouds” of the “skies” to hide Himself. God is omnipresent, and He makes Himself available according to His perfect purpose and plan. He is willing to receive anyone who believes and trusts in His Son Jesus, and when we accept Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins and grant us everlasting life. Praise be unto Jehovah God for His ability to make Himself obscure and well known at the same time.

Next time David says, at the brightness that was before him his thick clouds passed, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
