The LORD Sending Out and Scattering Arrows - Psalms 18:14

In Psalms chapter eighteen David wrote, “The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Highest gave his voice; hail stones and coals of fire”, and in chapter eighteen and verse fourteen David shared how the LORD, sent out his arrows, and scattered them God where we read,

Yes, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them; and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them.

The verse begins, Yes, he sent out his arrows, and scattered them;” David began with the words, “Yes, he sent out his arrows” which means “even so and indeed, Jehovah God assigned and dispatched his shaft like spears used by an archer in a bow”, “and scattered them” or “and dispersed, spread abroad and overflowed his enemies”. David said Jehovah God dispatched and assigned his “arrows within a bow” to spread abroad and scatter his adversaries and foes.

The verse goes on to say,and he shot out lightnings, and discomfited them. David continued with the words, “and he shot out” or “and Jehovah God shot” “lightnings” which means “bright flashing and gleaming swords like lightning in the sky”, “and discomfited them” or “and noisily consumed, destroyed, troubled and vexed his enemies”. David wrote how Jehovah God shot arrows of lighting toward His enemies which vexed and consumed them.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see through David how Jehovah God manifested His power and authority over His enemies. David said God used “lightning bolts” like arrows to disperse them, and when He did, they were consumed and troubled from all around. God's power is immutable, and no one can resist Him. As powerful as He is, He desires to have a personal relationship with us by believing and trusting in His Son Jesus. When we submit to Him, we align ourselves under His protective and defensive hands, and He will come against His enemies and ours in ways that are beyond resistance and worthy of giving Him praise for all eternity.

Next time David shares how, the channels of waters were seen, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
