Rain Upon the Wicked - Psalms 11:6

In Psalms chapter eleven David asked, “If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?”, and he continued by saying, “ The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. The LORD tries the righteous: but the wicked and him that loves violence his soul hates. In Psalms chapter eleven and verse six David said, “ Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest” where we read,

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest:

this shall be the portion of their cup.

The verse begins, Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest:” David began with the words, “Upon the wicked” which means “on the people who are criminal, guilty and hostile to God” “he shall rain snares” or “Jehovah God will pelt or rain down traps, plots, sources and agents of calamity”, “fire and brimstone” which means “supernatural flames and burning hot fire and judgment like cypress-resin or sulfur”, “and an horrible tempest” or “and a burning heat, glow or raging and consuming horror”. David said Jehovah God would “rain” down traps and agents of calamity which include burning supernatural flames and raging horror upon the “wicked”.

The verse continues, this shall be the portion of their cup.David added the words, “this shall be the portion” or “snares, fire, brimstone and a horrible tempest will exist as the allotment and providence” “of their cup” which means “pertaining to the wicked person's container or portion”. David said the “wicked” will receive “snares, fire, brimstone and a horrible tempest” as their allotment.

When we mediate upon the words in this verse, we learn from David the fate of people who remain in their “wicked” state. This judgment of God is determined and planned for those who refuse to humble themselves, turn from their evil ways and yield to His Son Jesus as their personal “Savior and Lord”. God loves people, and the fact that He inspired David to write these words so people can see them means He is reaching out with His plan of salvation to all who surrender. We should be warned and notified that people who are “wicked” and remain in that condition will face this horrific consequences for rejecting God's Son Jesus, and God's warning in advance should cause us to give honor and praise unto Him.

Next time David says, the righteous LORD loves righteousness, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
