A Banner to Them Who Fear God - Psalms 60:4

In Psalms chapter sixty David said, “You have showed your people hard things: you have made us to drink the wine of astonishment”, and in chapter sixty and verse four of Psalms David said, “You have given a banner to them that fear you” where we read,

You have given a banner to them that fear you, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah.

The verse begins, You have given a banner to them that fear you, ... David began with the words, “you have given a banner” or “you, Divine judge Jehovah God have put, set, bestowed, consecrated and dedicated a standard, signal pole or ensign” “to them that fear you” which means “to the people who are morally reverent, in awe and afraid of you, Jehovah God”. David said Jehovah God consecrated a signal pole to people who are reverent and in awe of Him.

The verse continues, that it may be displayed because of the truth. Selah. David added the words, “that it may be displayed” or “so the ensign or signal pole might be raised and shown” “because of the truth” which means “on account of that which is reality, equity and truthful”. “Selah” or “exalt, lift up and pause to meditate upon it”. David said the signet pole given to those who reverence Jehovah God was to be raised on account of reality and truthfulness, and those reading and listening to these words should pause and meditate upon this idea.

When we consider the words in this verse, we see how David recognized the “ensign” given to him and his countrymen because they were in awe of Him, and they were to raise the “signal pole” to declare the truthfulness of Jehovah God to all who see it. God's desire is to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus, and He proved His love toward us when He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified for our mistakes, errors and wrongs. When we submit to Him, we will be forgiven of our sins and granted everlasting life with God, and our reverence and awe of Him will be a “banner” of truthfulness to everyone who observes.

Next time David says, “that your beloved may be delivered”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
