In Psalms chapter sixty David said, “God has spoken in his holiness; I will rejoice, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth. Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine; Ephraim also is the strength of my head; Judah is my lawgiver. Moab is my washpot; over Edom will I cast out my shoe: Philistia, triumph you because of me”, and in chapter sixty and verse nine of Psalms David asked, “Who will bring me into the strong city?” where we read,
Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom?
The verse begins, “Who will bring me into the strong city?” David began with the words, “Who will bring me” or “what person shall lead, carry and conduct me, David” “into the strong city” which means “within the siege-enclosure, entrenchment, place or town of terror and excitement”? David asked who would be capable of leading him into the powerfully protected dwelling place of terror.
The verse goes on to say, “who will lead me into Edom?” David continued with the words, “who will lead me” or “what person shall guide me, David” “into Edom” which means “into Edom whose name means red and was the land of the descendants of Esau which was south and south east of Palestine”? David continued his questions as he wondered what person would guide him into the land of “Edom”.
When we think through the words in this verse, we see how David questioned what person would be capable of leading and guiding him and his people into the “strong city” and “Edom”. In other words, no one would have the power to conquer them. The implication is that no “person” would do this, but Jehovah God could. This was a difficult problem for David, but it was no trouble for God. God solves the problems of mankind, and He defeated the greatest enemy, Satan, when He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we submit to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and fight our battles for us while leading us according to His purposes and plans. God loves us, and He alone is able to be victorious in places we cannot defeat.
Next time David asks, “Will not you, O God, which had cast us off?”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
