In Psalms chapter fifty nine David said, “You therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen: be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah. They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, does hear?”, and in chapter fifty-nine and verse eight of Psalms David said, “But you, O LORD, shall laugh at them” where we read,
But you, O LORD, shall laugh at them; you shall have all the heathen in derision.
The verse begins, “But you, O LORD, shall laugh at them;” David began with the words, “But you” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover you, Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God”, “O LORD” which means “O Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “shall laugh at them” or “will sport, play and mock the heathen”. David said even though the “heathen” think their words are unheard, Jehovah God will sport, mock and play with them.
The verse goes on to say, “you shall have all the heathen in derision.” David continued with the words, “you shall have all the heathen” or “you, Jehovah God, will each, every, the whole and everyone of the pagan, non-Hebrew and Gentile nations” “in derision” which means “stammering, speaking unintelligibly and deriding”. David said Jehovah God would have every one of the pagan non-believers stammering and speaking unintelligibly.
When we think through words in this verse, we see through David the reaction of God to the “heathen” believing that no one hears their words. God hears everyone, and when people are in opposition to Him, He will mock their evil projections and declarations. God's desire is to have a personal relationship with everybody, and He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the sins and wicked words of everyone. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and laughingly mock the “heathen” for their boastful and pernicious words.
Next time David says, “Because of his strength will I wait upon you”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
