In Psalms chapter fifty nine David said the heathen, “return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city. Behold, they belch out with their mouth: swords are in their lips: for who, say they, does hear? But you, O LORD, shall laugh at them; you shall have all the heathen in derision. Because of his strength will I wait upon you: for God is my defense”, and in chapter fifty-nine and verse ten of Psalms David said, “the God of my mercy shall prevent me” where we read,
The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon my enemies.
The verse begins, “The God of my mercy shall prevent me:” David began with the words, “the God of my mercy” or “the Divine judge, ruler and Supreme God belonging to my, David's, goodness, kindness and faithfulness” “shall prevent me” which means “will meet, confront and receive me, David”. David said the Divine judge Jehovah God who is good, kind and faithful would receive and stand with him.
The verse goes on to say, “God shall let me see my desire upon my enemies.” David continued with the words, “God shall let me see” or “the Divine judge will allow and permit me, David, to behold, observe and look upon” “my desire” which means “my, David's, passion and trust” “upon my enemies” or “on my, David's, hating foes and adversaries”. David said the Divine judge Jehovah God would allow him to observe his passion carried out upon his hating foes and adversaries.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David knew Jehovah God, who is filled with goodness, kindness and faithfulness, would stand up for him, and would permit him to see his passion carried out against his “enemies”. God was David's defense because he had a personal relationship with Him, and God desires that all people have a relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind. When we submit to Jesus, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us His Holy Spirit to lead, guide and protect us for His eternal purposes. Let us give praise, honor and glory to Jehovah God and His Son Jesus for providing goodness, kindness and faithfulness, and He shall confront our hating foes as well.
Next time David says, “Slay them not, lest my people forget”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
