In Psalms chapter sixty David asked, “Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me into Edom? Will not you, O God, which had cast us off? and you, O God, which did not go out with our armies?”, and in chapter sixty and verse eleven of Psalms David said, “Give us help from trouble” where we read,
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
The verse begins, “Give us help from trouble:” David began with the words, “Give us help” or “provide, ascribe and grant to us, David and his countrymen, succor, assistance and aid” “from trouble” which means “apart and separate from straits, distresses, foes, adversaries and enemies”. David appealed to Jehovah God to give he and his countrymen assistance by separating them from distresses and adversaries.
The verse goes on to say, “ for vain is the help of man.” David continued with the words, “for vain” or “because, since and on account that empty, false, worthless and as nothing” “is the help” which means “exists the succor, assistance and aid” “of man” or “belonging to human beings both male and female”. David said the aid and assistance of people was as nothing and worthless.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we see how David desired to have the assistance of Jehovah God within his difficulties. People may have wanted to help, but their aid was worthless and empty. God is all-powerful, and He is able to give aid and assistance in any situation. God loves people, and He desires to have a personal relationship with everyone through His Son Jesus. He defeated the power of sin and the grave when He sent His Son Jesus to be crucified on the cross, and when He was resurrected three days later, He made access for us to live eternally with Him. We may believe and trust in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, and He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and accompany us in the battles especially when the “help of man” is “vain”.
Next time David says, “through God we shall do valiantly”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
