A Fool's Wrath - Proverbs 12:16

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the way of a fool is right in his own eyes: but he that hearkens unto counsel is wise”, and in chapter twelve and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “a fool's wrath is presently known” where we read,

A fool's wrath is presently known: but a prudent man covers shame.

The verse begins, A fool's wrath is presently known: Solomon began with the words, “a fool's wrath” or “the anger, vexation, provocation and grief belonging to a person who despises wisdom, mocks when guilty, is quarrelsome and licentious” “is presently known” which means “exists as quickly perceived, found out, discerned, distinguished and discriminated”. Solomon shared how the anger of a person who is quarrelsome and licentious is known at once.

The verse continues, “but a prudent man covers shame.” Solomon added the words, “but a prudent man” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the person whether male or female who is subtle, shrewd, cunning and sensible” “covers shame” which means “conceals, hides, spreads over and overwhelms disgrace, dishonor and ignominy”. Solomon said s person who is shrewd conceals disgrace and dishonor.

When we think through Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how a person who is unwise and quarrelsome is quickly known by those around them, however, the person who is shrewd and sensible conceals insults, dishonor and disgrace performed by others. God is this way, and He doesn't expose all of the sins we have ever committed. God desires to save us from the penalty of death for our sins, (See Romans 6:23), and because He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross in our place, we may now be forgiven of our sins, granted everlasting life and given the ability to be sensible and shrewd so that we conceal the insults and dishonor of others like He does.

Next time Solomon says, He that speaks truth shows forth righteousness”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
