In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “the wicked desires the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yields fruit”, and in chapter twelve and verse thirteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “the wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips” where we read,
The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
The verse begins, “The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips:” Solomon began with the words, “the wicked” or “the person who is criminal, guilty of crimes, evil and hostile to God” “is snared” which means “exists as bait, a lure, gin or trap” “by the transgression” or “through the means of moral and religious rebellion against God” “of his lips” which means “belonging to his, the wicked person', physical lips used for speaking”. Solomon shared how the person who is evil and hostile to God is trapped by the moral rebellion within their physical lips used for speaking.
The verse continues, “but the just shall come out of trouble.” Solomon added the words, “but the just” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover people who are right, correct and lawful” “shall come out of trouble” which means “will exit, depart and proceed from straits, distresses and vexation”. Solomon said people who are correct and right before Jehovah God will exit and depart from distressing and vexing situations.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon that there are different outcomes for people who are “evil and hostile to God” and those who are “righteous”. People who are “evil” use their “sinful” lips to their own trapping, and people who are lawful and just will exit and depart from difficulties and distresses. God wants to rescue us from the bondage or trap of our sin so we can be in a personal relationship with Him. He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die for the sins and transgressions of every person, and when we yield our lives to Him as our “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and save us from sinful behavior which is revealed by our speech and from vexations that enter into our lives.
Next time Solomon says, “a man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
