In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom”, and in chapter ten and verse twenty-two of Proverbs Solomon said, “the blessing of the LORD, it makes rich” where we read,
The blessing of the LORD, it makes rich, and he adds no sorrow with it.
The verse begins, “The blessing of the LORD, it makes rich, ...” Solomon began with the words, “the blessing” or “the benediction, liberality and prosperity” “of the LORD” which means “from Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God”, “it makes rich” or “it, Jehovah God's blessing, causes a person to accumulate, grow and become wealthy”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God's prosperity causes a person to become wealthy.
The verse continues, “... and he adds no sorrow with it.” Solomon added the words, “and he adds no sorrow” or “and he, Jehovah God, does not increase, join or gather together pain, hurt, toil and hardship” “with it” which means “beside and alongside it, the blessing and gaining wealth”. Solomon said Jehovah God does not increase pain or toil from His “blessing” and “riches”.
When we meditate upon Solomon's words in this verse, we discover the source of “wealth” without toil and pain. Jehovah God owns everything, (See Psalm 24:1) and He distributes His “riches” as He desires. In other words, God “blesses” people with their belongings. If however, we have no relationship with Him through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for the sins of all mankind, we put ourselves in a position not only to be eternally impoverished, but also to have great pain and toil in what we obtain on earth. When we believe and trust in Jesus as our “Savior and Lord”, we avail ourselves to His forgiveness, eternal life and the “blessings” He shall give to everyone who surrenders to Him.
Next time Solomon says, “it is as sport to a fool to do mischief”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
