In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “An hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor: but through knowledge shall the just be delivered”, and in chapter eleven and verse ten of Proverbs Solomon shared what happens, “when it goes well with the righteous” where we read,
When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices: and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
The verse begins, “When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices:” Solomon began with the words, “when it goes well” or “at the time and moment goodness, fairness, beauty, joy, prosperity and discernment happens” “with the righteous” which means “alongside and beside people who are right, just, lawful and correct”, “the city rejoices” or “the town or village exults, triumphs and jumps for joy”. Solomon said at the time goodness and prosperity happens to people who are right and just, their entire town triumphs and jumps for joy.
The verse goes on to say, “and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.” Solomon continued with the words, “and when the wicked perish” or “and at the time and moment people who are criminal, guilty of crimes, evil and hostile to God vanish, go astray, are exterminated and destroyed”, “there is shouting” which means “there exists a ringing cry, entreaty, supplication and praise”. Solomon said a ringing cry and praise arises at the time and moment evil people vanish.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how people within cities and villages triumph and jump for joy when goodness and prosperity happens to those who are right, just and correct, and they shout aloud at the time evil people are exterminated. God is aware of people who are “righteous” and those who are “wicked”, and these people affect others in their lives. God wants to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus, and when we yield our lives to His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us how to be “righteous” and how to avoid being “wicked” so others respond in appropriate celebrations.
Next time Solomon says, “by the blessing of the upright the city is exalted”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
