In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that tills his land shall be satisfied with bread: but he that follows vain persons is void of understanding”, and in chapter twelve and verse twelve of Proverbs Solomon said, “the wicked desires the net of evil men” where we read,
The wicked desires the net of evil men: but the root of the righteous yields fruit.
The verse begins, “The wicked desires the net of evil men:” Solomon began with the words, “the wicked” or “the people who are criminal, guilty of crimes, evil and hostile to God” “desires the net” which means “covets, takes pleasure and delights in the bulwark, hunting implement and stronghold” “of evil men” or “belonging to bad, disagreeable, malignant and displeasing people whether male or female”. Solomon shared how people who are evil and hostile to God covet the bulwark and stronghold belonging to malignant and displeasing people.
The verse goes on to say, “but the root of the righteous yields fruit.” Solomon added the words, “but the root” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover the bottom, deep part and heel” “of the righteous” which means “belonging to the right, just, lawful and correct” “yields fruit” or “gives, bestows and consecrates produce, offspring and harvest”. Solomon said the deep bottom part or foundation belonging to people who are right and just produces a harvest.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon knew how people who are evil and unjust covet the implements of those who are bad and malignant, and he knew people who are just and right produces a large harvest. God wants us to have a firm foundation that produces “fruit” and keeps us away from the snaring passions of malignant people. God sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us eventually life and build within us a firm foundation that shall produce “fruit” every where we go.
Next time Solomon says, “the wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
