In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but she that makes ashamed is as rottenness in his bones”, and in chapter twelve and verse five of Proverbs Solomon said, “the thoughts of the righteous are right” where we read,
The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.
The verse begins, “The thoughts of the righteous are right:” Solomon began with the words, “the thoughts of the righteous” or “the plans, purposes and inventions belonging to people who are just, correct and lawful” “are right” which means “exist as privileged, fitting and proper”. Solomon shared how the purposes and inventions belonging to people who are lawful and just exist as proper and fitting.
The verse goes on to say, “but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.” Solomon continued with the words, “but the counsels” or “however, nevertheless, notwithstanding and moreover the guidance, advice and direction” “of the wicked” which means “belonging to people who are criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God” “are deceit” or “exist as falsehood, subtlety and treachery”. Solomon said the advice and guidance of people who are evil and hostile to God are falsehood and treachery.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon how people who are just and lawful employ their plans and inventions in a fitting and proper way, however, people who are evil and hostile to God give their advice in a subtle and treacherous manner. God gave us the ability to think, and when we use our “thoughts” to consider that He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins, we should surrender to Him so He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and give us aid by His Holy Spirit to use our “thoughts” in a proper manner and to avoid the false advice belonging to people who are evil and hostile to Him.
Next time Solomon says, “the words of the wicked are to lie in wait for blood”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
