The Labor of the Righteous - Proverbs 10:16

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The rich man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction of the poor is their poverty”, and in chapter ten and verse sixteen of Proverbs Solomon said, “the labor of the righteous tends to life” where we read,

The labor of the righteous tends to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.

The verse begins, “The labor of the righteous tends to life: Solomon began with the words, “the labor” or “the work, recompense and reward” of the righteous which means “belonging to people who are just, right, correct and lawful” “tends to life” or “is lending toward active, fresh and reviving living”. Solomon shared how the work of people who are lawful and correct leads to a life that is active and fresh.

The verse continues, “the fruit of the wicked to sin.” Solomon added the words, “the fruit” or “the produce, product, revenue and yield” “of the wicked” which means “belonging to people who are criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God” “to sin” or “toward error, wrong, mistakes and punishment”. Solomon said the produce belonging to people who are evil and hostile to God leads toward error and wrong.

When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how there is a difference between the yield of the lives of people who are lawful and correct and those who are evil and hostile to God. God loves us and wants us to work in His Kingdom according to His right and lawful manner, however, if we act in an evil and “wicked” manner, our lives shall produce wrong and punishment (See Galatians 6:7). The desire of God is to have a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who came into the world to die on cross for our sins, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us to work in His Kingdom and produce “fruit” that is active and lively before Him. (See John 15:2-16)

Next time Solomon says a person, “is in the way of life that keeps instructions”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
