In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “Treasures of wickedness profit nothing: but righteousness delivers from death”, and in chapter ten and verse three of Proverbs Solomon said, “the LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish” where we read,
The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish:
but he casts away the substance of the wicked.
The verse begins, “The LORD will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish:” Solomon began with the words, “the LORD” or “Jehovah who is the existing One and the proper name for the One True God” “will not suffer” which means “shall in no way or manner allow or permit” “the soul of the righteous” or “the heart, mind, will, desires, conscience and seat of emotions and affections belonging to the right, just, correct and lawful” “to famish” which means “to be hungry, voracious and rapacious”. Solomon shared how Jehovah God would in no way allow the hearts and minds of people who are just and lawful to be rapacious and hungry.
The verse goes on to say, “but he casts away the substance of the wicked.” Solomon continued with the words, “but he casts away” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover he, Jehovah God, deposes, pushes and thrusts out” “the substance of the wicked” which means “the desire, chasm, engulfing ruin and calamity belonging to people who are criminal, guilty of crime, evil and hostile to God”. Solomon said Jehovah God trusts out the desires and engulfing ruin belonging to people who are evil and hostile to Him.
When we consider the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how Jehovah God does not allow the hearts and minds of people who are just and lawful to be hungry and voracious, and He deposes of the desires of people who are criminal and evil. God is aware of the behavior of people, and His desire is that all people follow His ways. He knew we would sin which means to violate His law, and He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind because of this. When we surrender our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us how to be “righteous” so we may avoid being evil and “wicked” people.
Next time Solomon says, “he becomes poor that deals with a slack hand”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
