In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “There is that scatters, and yet increases; and there is that withholds more than is meet, but it tends to poverty”, and in chapter eleven and verse twenty-five of Proverbs Solomon said, “the liberal soul shall be made fat” where we read,
The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that waters shall be watered also himself.
The verse begins, “The liberal soul shall be made fat:” Solomon began with the words, “the liberal soul” or “the heart, mind, will, desires, living being, conscience and seat of passions and affections of the person who blesses, gives and presents a treaty of peace” “shall be made fat” which means “will be anointed and prosperous”. Solomon said the heart, mind and will of people who bless and give to others will be anointed and prosperous.
The verse continues, “and he that waters shall be watered also himself.” Solomon added the words, “and he that waters” or “and he, the person whether male or female, who satiates, saturates and gives one's fill to others” “shall be watered also himself” which means “will even so and also exist as satiated, saturated and filled their own selves”. Solomon said the person who satiates others will be saturated themselves.
When we think through the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon that there is a personal benefit to caring for the needs of others. Not only is the other person blessed and satisfied, but the person who provides is blessed as well. God loves to bless us, and when we realize He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for the sins of all mankind and receive Him as our “Lord and Savior”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach and encourage us to “water” others so we shall be abundantly satiated ourselves.
Next time Solomon says, “he that withholds corn, the people shall curse him”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
