In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that waters shall be watered also himself”, and in chapter eleven and verse twenty-six of Proverbs Solomon said, “he that withholds corn, the people shall curse him” where we read,
He that withholds corn, the people shall curse him:
but blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it.
The verse begins, “He that withholds corn, the people shall curse him:” Solomon began with the words, “he that withholds corn” or “the person whether male or female who holds back, refrains and restrains grain or wheat”, “the people shall curse him” which means “the human beings both male and female will pierce, perforate, bore and blaspheme him, the person who withholds corn”. Solomon shared how the person who holds back grain will be blasphemed by the people from whom He withheld it.
The verse goes on to say, “but blessing shall be upon the head of him that sells it.” Solomon continued with the words, “but blessing” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover a gift, present, treaty of peace and prosperity” “shall be upon the head” which means “will exist on the top, summit, upper part, chief, height and forefront” “of him that sells it” or “of the person whether male or female who allows others to buy the grain or wheat”. Solomon said peace and prosperity would crown the summit of the person who permits people to purchase their grain.
When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how there is a choice for people to make who hold “grain”. They may keep it or offer it to others. The idea is not to be stingy and greedy with that which Jehovah God has provided. King David of Israel said, “the earth is the Lord's, the world, and they that dwell therein”. (See Psalm 24:1) In other words, God owns it all. When He provides, we are to allow others to be blessed by us. God gave His Son Jesus to the world to be crucified on the cross for the sins of all mankind, and when we yield our lives to Him as our personal “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us by His Holy Spirit not only to appreciate that which He provides, but also to share it with others.
Next time Solomon says, “he that diligently seeks good procures favor”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
