In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight”, and in chapter eleven and verse two of Proverbs Solomon said, “when pride comes, then comes shame” where we read,
When pride comes, then comes shame: but with the lowly is wisdom.
The verse begins, “When pride comes, then comes shame:” Solomon began with the words, “when pride comes” or “at the time and moment insolence, presumptuousness and arrogance enters, attains and is enumerated”, “then comes shame” which means “at that time disgrace, dishonor, ignominy and reproach enters, attains and is enumerated”. Solomon said at the time arrogance and insolence enters into a person's life, they obtain disgrace and reproach as well.
The verse goes on to say, “but with the lowly is wisdom.” Solomon continued with the words, “but with the lowly” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover alongside and beside the humble and modest person” “is wisdom” which means “exists skill, shrewdness and prudence”. Solomon said skill and prudence accompanies the person who is humble and modest.
When we meditate upon the words in this verse, we learn through Solomon how there are different reciprocating affects to people who are filled with arrogance compared to people who are humble. God doesn't want us to suffer reproach, and He desires that we be filled with His skill. God loves us, and He proved His love to us when He sent His Son Jesus into the world to die on the cross for our sins. When we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and teach us the value of being humble and putting aside all arrogance and “pride”.
Next time Solomon says, “the integrity of the upright shall guide them”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
Until tomorrow…there is more…
