In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “The righteousness of the perfect shall direct his way: but the wicked shall fall by his own wickedness”, and in chapter eleven and verse six of Proverbs Solomon said, “the righteousness of the upright shall deliver them” where we read,
The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them:
but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.
The verse begins, “The righteousness of the upright shall deliver them:” Solomon began with the words, “the righteousness” or “the straightness, rightness, justice, lawfulness and correctness” “of the upright” which means “belonging to the straight, right and just” “shall deliver them” or “will rescue, save and liberate them, the people who are right and correct”. Solomon shared how the straightness and rightness of people who are lawful and just will liberate and save them.
The verse goes on to say, “but transgressors shall be taken in their own naughtiness.” Solomon continued with the words, “but transgressors” or “however, nonetheless, notwithstanding and moreover people who act deceitfully, faithlessly and are offensive” “shall be taken” which means “will be captured, seized and caught” “in their own naughtiness” or “within their own personal wickedness, perversity, iniquity and mischievousness”. Solomon said people who act in deceitful and faithless ways will be seized in their own perversity and iniquity.
When we think through the words in this verse, we discover through Solomon how there are differences in the consequences to the behavior of people who act in “righteous” ways and those who commit violations to the laws of God. God does not want us to suffer from our “transgressions”, and He desires that we receive His deliverance through His Son Jesus who was sent into the world to die in our place on the cross for our sins. When we yield to Him as our “Savior and Lord”, He will forgive our transgressions and sins, give us eternal life and help us to abide in a just manner that shall be our salvaton for all eternity.
Next time Solomon says, “when a wicked man dies, his expectation shall perish”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.
