Calling Passengers - Proverbs 9:15

In the book of Proverbs Solomon said, “A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knows nothing. For she sits at the door of her house, on a seat in the high places of the city, ...”, and in chapter nine and verse fifteen of Proverbs Solomon said the foolish woman sits, “to call passengers who go right on their ways” where we read,

To call passengers who go right on their ways:

The verse begins, “To call passengers ... Solomon began with the words, “to call” or “to cry out, summon and invite” passengers which means “people who pass through and traverse by”. Solomon shared how the “foolish woman” cries out to people who are passing by her way.

The verse goes on to say, “... who go right on their ways:” Solomon continued with the words, “who go right on” or “that travel and journey directly along” “their ways” which means “their, the passengers', passing of life, living and travels”. Solomon referred to how the “foolish woman” was crying out to the people who were traveling along the passage way in front of the woman's abode.

When we consider Solomon's words in this verse, we learn how the woman was crying out to the people who were traveling along the street in front of her house. She was inviting them to be with her, and even as sinful activity seems attractive at first, the consequences from yielding to the invitation is devastation and destruction. (See John 10:10) God wants a personal relationship with us through His Son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, and when we yield our lives to Him, He will forgive our sins, grant us everlasting life and protect us from the invitations of those who would cause us to sin and be destroyed.

Next time Solomon says, “whosoever is simple, let him turn in here”, so read ahead, and we shall join together then.

Until tomorrow…there is more…
